Mohammed's Kidney
My family are fundraising for our mother’s younger brother Mohammed Hamdoun, who is based in Sudan and has end-stage renal failure (stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease). Mohammed is currently undergoing dialysis to manage his condition, but has been advised that his best chance of success is in undergoing a kidney transplant operation.
Family members are currently being tested for matches, but with accessible public healthcare being generally sub-standard and the risks of infection high, the nearest and safest option for the operation is across the border in Egypt.
The amount we are fundraising for does not include his flights, and is solely the amount quoted to us by the hospital: $20 000 (USD) comprised of $17 000 for the cost of the operation, medication, X-rays, follow ups, and the stay at the hospital; and additional pre-operation costs of $3 000 which includes dialysis and investigations.
Family across the world are working to fundraise as much as possible internally, and these offline donations will be added here as we get them. All funds raised will be withdrawn by myself in the UK and transferred directly to the hospital in Cairo.
We know it’s a large ask overall, but every little truly does help.
If you are unable to donate, just sharing to your contacts could make a huge difference.
Thank you!
