We are deeply heartbroken to announce the tragic passing of Mohammed Zaid (20 years old), a young undergraduate student from Hyderabad, India, who came to the United States with dreams of completing his graduation in Health Professions and Related Clinical Sciences at the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut.

On the night of September 7th, 2025, around 11:00 PM, Zaid went out to buy groceries near the university when he was struck by a four-wheeler in a hit-and-run accident. He suffered a severe skull injury and brain hemorrhage and was rushed to St. Vincent’s Medical Centre, Hartford HealthCare, Bridgeport, Connecticut. Despite emergency surgery and life support, Zaid’s condition worsened, and after days on a ventilator, he sadly passed away.

Zaid was the eldest son in his family and a beloved brother. His sudden death has left his parents, siblings, and our entire family shattered. His parents are in India, struggling with this devastating loss, and their last wish is to bring their son back home to Hyderabad, Malakpet for his funeral and final resting place.

Repatriating a body from the U.S. to India is a very expensive process, costing thousands of dollars for embalming, preparation, coffin, documentation, cargo transport, and funeral services. On behalf of his grieving family, I, Akram Khan (his cousin brother), am organizing this fundraiser to help cover these expenses.

In addition to these immediate costs, Zaid’s family is going through a very difficult financial situation and needs support during this heartbreaking time. Your generous contributions will not only help bring him home but also provide some relief and strength to his family as they cope with this tragedy.
