Ajjour's Story:

I am Mohammed Alshafie from Gaza.

My family and I are requesting your assistance. We are a family of three: me (19), my mother (39), and my father (41), who is unable to speak or hear and has suffered from a condition since childhood that’s left him unemployed. I am the family's sole source of income.

Before the war, I worked at a restaurant to support my family. Our lives were relatively good, but when the war began, I lost my job because the restaurant was bombed. I no longer can work there. We’ve suffered greatly during this war. My father has had a painful buzzing in his ears since the war began due to the loud bombardments and needs medical care.

My family and I are going through a difficult time due to the war and a lack of work. It is difficult to manage our daily lives, find food to eat, and provide for ourselves while remaining safe. Because of the ongoing genocide, we have left our home and are currently living in a school. It is horrible. There is no clean water, food, medical care, or adequate educational facilities.

There are no resources here.

For example, monthly costs for basic survival are $2,510/mo.

$1,650 for vegetables or food that will not spoil in room temperature, as there are no fridges to rely on to keep food for an extended period of time.

$440 for fresh/drinking and salt water (for cleaning, etc.).

$420 for charging phone batteries or electronic devices.
