Mohamed's Car Accident
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
My good friend, Mohamed AbdelGilil, witnessed a car accident, and being the person he is, he parked his car to check on everyone involved and make sure a chain collision didn't happen and everyone was safe. While they were waiting for police and EMS to arrive, his car was rear ended and totaled. Luckily Mohamed, as well as those involved in the accidents, had no major injury, however this leaves Mohamed in a difficult position.
Mohamed is currently a medical student, and unfortunately with that comes difficulty with absorbing the costs. A car would be a huge necessity for him, since public transportation in Des Moines wouldn't suffice. He is an incredible person, who consistently puts others before himself (in fact, during the accidents, he was more concerned in making sure everyone involved was safe, not so much about himself or his car), and if you know him, you know exactly what I mean.
Realistically, he would have about $1,000-$2,000 from insurance, but would need $8,000 - $10,000 to replace his car. Any little bit helps! Thanks so much everyone.
I've attached below his own post on the situation

I wanted to share with you all a personal story. So today I was driving in Des Moines, Iowa, and I see a car accident unfold in front of my eyes. It involved a truck and a small sedan. As all of you who know me, you probably know what I did. I parked my car on the side behind the car closest to me that crashed (there’s ice/snow on the roads here) and put my emergency light on and turned my car off and parked it at a good distance away from the car. Two things going on in my mind here; a) check on those potentially injured and b) make sure a chain crash doesn’t happen. Now another guy did the same thing and parked behind the other car.
I get out of my car and check on everyone, one guy decides to take off running on foot and just abandoned the car and there’s an older lady in the other car. I go and check on her and she’s about to start hyperventilating and I managed to calm her down. She didn’t need any medical attention besides her stiff neck.
While we were waiting for Police/EMS to come, I hear a crash. I look over and it’s a kid who rear ended me badly. Thankfully I was outside of the car. So of course, I leave the old lady and go and check on this kid. At this point, I
don’t care about the car at all. What I now cared about was this kid. I called 911 for him and requested EMS. He also sustained neck injuries. Made sure he was stable and stayed with him and told him not to move at all.
His father comes, checks up on him in the ambulance, and he has to go get scans at the hospital of course. At the end of the day, instead of ordering an Uber, he and the police officer offered to take me back home.
The moral of the story is this, if you see something, do something about it. Yes, I was trying to help and I lost my car, but who cares. The fact that the old lady told me you restored my faith in humanity, had no price tag on it. Be safe guys out there and hug your loved ones. Count your blessings and be thankful and check on those whom you haven’t talked to in a while or make things good between you and someone who don’t get along or have beef. Just be the bigger person.
And thank you to all the first responders for everything they had to put up with (2 separate accidents). I also want to thank everyone from my med school for reaching out to me and offering to help. I am truly blessed.
