My little man Mogi has been having health problems for a while. It started with near constant licking and scratching at the skin and fur on his back, leading to bald patches and spots where he would lick himself raw. I brought him into the vet where it was determined it was likely an allergy issue to the types of protein used in most cat food. He was put on a Hill's diet to mitigate/avoid the problem but it hasn't seemed to do the trick. When his skin didn't much improve and I noticed an excess of drooling I brought him back in to re-assess. At this time the vet diagnosed him with lymphocytic-plasmacytic gingivitis stomatitis. Basically, he is allergic to the plaque that builds up around his teeth. The best course of action for this condition is to have his teeth removed wholesale. This is an expensive procedure that I have been having an impossible time coming up with the funds to cover. I want to get him the help he needs to live more comfortably, it's clear these issues cause him discomfort. The issues with his skin have not completely resolved either, they come and go for reasons we haven't been able to pinpoint. The vet has said that it will be hard to figure out if it is related to his teeth or not before getting them sorted out, so that is our next step in getting him fixed up.

Mogi is a charming and energetic little guy, and it breaks my heart to see him struggle with this. There were times where he would wake me up at night with his compulsive skin-licking. I've decided it's time to reach out for help, I'm unable to cover this total expense on my own at this time.

The vet quoted me $1,800-$2,300 for the surgery itself, not including any medications he may be placed on following the procedure such as antibiotics or painkillers. This quote also doesn't account for the possibility of the surgery being more complex than originally thought, or the possibility of complications during surgery - both of which would raise the price by and unknown amount. I'm hoping to raise enough to cover his surgery and anything he might need immediately following it. Anything extra will be put aside for any costs that may come up if his skin issues do not resolve following the extraction, requiring further testing and possible treatments. Otherwise, any excess funds will be saved to cover his prescription diet and any changes that may come surrounding that. I just want the little man to be happy and healthy again.
