Mogensen's Double Wheelchair Van
About 2 years ago the Mogensen family was hit with some harsh news. Not one, but BOTH of their sons were diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. It's a fatal illness that slowly progresses, taking away mobility and independence.
The family is in the process of trying to get an accessible van that can safely accommodate both boys in wheelchairs as well as their third child in a carseat. This is not an easy or affordable task! They have been denied for a couple different loans and finally they found a 'reasonably' priced used option that can accommodate all they need and were able to get the approval for it, only catch is they have to come up with $10,000 to put down! No big deal right? WRONG! Obviously this is a HUGE deal when you are just an average family, living on one income with three kiddos, two of which have a rare, incurable, EXPENSIVE disease. The income stays the same and even decreases at times due to appointments and needs of the kids. The expenses keep increasing, and the amount of help they have financially remains at
zero. So this is kind of their only option.
They are literally STUCK.
They NEED HELP.
I've started this go fund me account in their behalf so they can get the help they need to purchase a used, fairly low mileage 15 passenger van. They've been to every dealership, and none are under $30,000!! In addition to the van, the conversion for both wheelchairs is close to $27,000!!!
The goal is $60,000, which would help cover the cost of the van itself and the conversion. Please share this page and donate if you can. Every little bit helps. Each day these boys are literally one step closer to complete immobility. This family is trying so hard to make the most out of every day.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Michelle Davis
