MogadishuFaces Fundraiser

Mogadishu is mourning today. Over 100 innocent people have lost their lives, and hundreds are critically wounded following a horrendous terrorist attack. It was the worst attack in Mogadishu in more than two years, and many of the injured told us that the force of the blast reminded them of the devastating 2017 Zoobe bombing that claimed the lives of hundreds. This time, most of the dead were young children and students. Young students who refused to let their current circumstances become an obstacle to their aspirations and dreams. Students who wanted to make their parents proud by becoming the support system that will uplift them from their abject poverty. Students that aspired to play a key role in making peace possible again. Students that wanted to show a way; a way that is not entirely rooted in negativity but blissful positivity and unwavering optimism. A way that things can indeed get better. For many, their dreams were cut short following this tragedy; there are hundreds that are still injured and need as much help to recover from this traumatising experience and dream once again. With your support and help, Somali Faces raised critical funds during the aftermath of the October 2017 bombing. We helped over 500 victims with emergency funds and purchased an ambulance and named it after the victims. Because of your past support and help, many of the injured and their families have rebuilt their lives and found hope once again. With your support, we want to make that uplifting change again.
