Hi there! First of all, I'd like to thank you for taking the time to look at this page and see if you wanted to donate!
For those of you who don't know, I'm a transgender male, aka I was born as a female and am currently transitioning to male. I have so far been nearly 2 years on testosterone, and have finally met my personal goal of changing my name legally!
All throughout high school, I was a very avid swimmer and was on the school team, but ever since coming out as trans and having to wear a binder everyday just to feel more comfortable in my own body, and I haven't been able to go back in the pool without my body dysphoria flaring up. I feel like a fish out of water! My dream is to be able to once again go swimming with the confidence I had on the blocks when I'd made it to the State meet!
The money raised by this fundraiser would go towards my top surgery, which (as per my consultation with Dr. Mangubat in Southcenter) is roughly 8.5K. For the rest of the money, I would use it to live off of during the recovery period that I'd be unable to do my work as usual, while still being able to have money to pay rent and afford food and gas. (Typical recovery period for something like this is usually around 6-8 weeks.)
