Modify our minivan for wheelchair accessibility.
Hello everyone, and thank you for taking a second to consider helping us. We are raising money to modify our van for wheelchair accessibility for our daughter Emily.
She is 14 years old and uses a wheelchair at home, and whenever we go out with her. Emily was born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a genetic disorder that starts in the central nervous system and affects all the muscles in the body. God has brought Emily through numerous hospitalizations over the last 14 years. She keeps a positive outlook and smiles despite what life throws at her. Due to the logistics involved with transporting Emily, we've limited travel with her throughout the years to doctor visits and more significant celebrations such as weddings and graduations. Anything outside of that usually requires I stay home with Emily as my husband goes out with our youngest or vice versa. She will also be starting high school in the fall and her wish is to be able to go in person whenever possible and an accessible van will make this a possibility. A wheelchair-accessible van will help Emily experience more, socialize more, and help us be more of a traditional family unit outside our home.
The funds collected will be used to bridge the gap in the conversion cost, which Superior Van and Mobility will handle out of South Bend, Indiana.
We can’t thank you enough for taking the time to read our story and consider donating. We will be updating everyone as the process progresses.
