This is Julian Perez, 22 years old. Julian was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy when he was 6 years old. He was somewhat lucky as he was still able to walk until just last year when he fell and broke his femur bone, which rendered him completely dependent on his wheel chair. Before this, he was pretty much independent. He was able to go up and down stairs (his own way, not like you and me) and he was able to walk some, just not long distances.  That all stopped.

Due to his Illness, Julian did not grow up like all other healthy children, playing sports or going to parties and limited vacations or outings. He grew up loving Lego, Transformers and especially computer games and anything having to do with computers. He did very well in high school and loved his IT classes and became very knowledgeable. He started the University of Phoenix just before he had his fall and had to stop due to the surgeries and therapies. He plans on continuing his education at his own pace.

Right now, Julian has completely lost his independence and along with that his self esteem and onset of depression. He can no longer go up and down the stairs, let alone walk. He’s been living with me during this pandemic, I am his grandmother.

The reason we are starting a GoFundMe me page is to raise funds to help Julian be mobile again.  We are asking for help to be able to purchase a machine that will help Julian up and down the stairs while still in his wheel chair.  We have had demonstrations and they work perfectly, but it is too expensive. It is also a machine that is portable and lightweight.

We ask you please to help us raise enough funds to be able to purchase this machine and get Julian out again. Anything you can donate will be so appreciated.
