For those who don't know, Leo, who is 7, is level 3 autistic. He's the happiest little boy you'll ever meet, He has a heart of gold, but a body that never stops. He's extremely active. He is an extreme flight risk. He will run into roads, does not respond to his name and our biggest fear is that if he ever got free, he'd be too fast to capture before something bad happens. This limits his life immensely as to where we or his school can take him. Which is practically no where, unless completely enclosed or he's completely secured.

The only time in his day when his body relaxes and his mind can think calmly, is when he is in a car seat or in a Buggie. He enjoys these moments enormously.

His school have started taking him out with the rest of the class in a baby sized buggie as they don't want him to feel left out. But as you can see by the photo, he's way too big for it, it can't provide shelter from the elements and a buggie this size can be very unstable on roads and footpaths around Dundalk, especially on footpaths that aren't the main street.

As you are probably aware, funding for special needs is limited in schools and at home. We would love to purchase a mobility Buggie for him as soon as possible so he can join his friends in school on trips outside and provide the SNAs with something more stable and safe to get him around in.

Unfortunately with the weather for the past 2 months, my income as a car valeter has been very slow. This is why we're reaching out to our community for support, however big or small to get him this particular all terrain mobility buggie.

It's around 1000 sterling to purchase and associated accessories and it will cater to his needs up until adulthood. It is serviceable with spare parts available.

We would love to leave it in his school Monday to Friday and take it home weekends and summer holidays so we can give him a life he truly deserves.

Those who know Leo, know he's a nature lover. Finding peace in parks and forests.

Our only concern is that the bigger and stronger he gets, the harder it will be to provide safety for him and others while out and about. This Buggie will provide the right amount of safety, so we can explore everything this beautiful island of Ireland has to offer with him, along with getting the most from his time in education and with his only friends.
