Mobility Aids Needed for Hannah’s hEDS Symptoms

Hello! I’m Hannah, and I have a condition called Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (or hEDS for short). This is a genetically heritable condition: a connective tissue disorder that causes multi-system issues throughout the body. You can learn more about hEDS here.

I have created a GoFundMe to support my goal of buying a set of custom sized ring splints to manage the symptoms of hEDS that affect my fingers.

With hEDS, the bones in your finger joints can often slip slightly out of place (subluxation) or pop fully out of place (dislocation), as do other joints in the body. These ring splints will be essential to my health as I strive for independence in my day-to-day life.

As part of my goal to maintain mobility and take better care of myself, I have made a point to cook for myself more this year after working through physical therapy that has helped me regain strength in my legs and shoulders (allowing me to stand upright for long periods of time again)! While standing and bending over are easier, I still struggle to hold objects tightly, stir with large utensils, use knives/graters, and twist caps or lids off without issue.

Please consider donating to this cause — help me gain back some independence by contributing to what I hope will be a really practical birthday gift!
