Mobile Vet Services equip. was destroyed by Hurricane Helene
Donation protected
Hurricane Helene destroyed the truck, medical boxes, & equipment for JAG Veterinary services. Dr. Giddens is our local, mobile veterinarian. A tree landed on top of her garage cover - destroying the cover, but mainly affecting her truck & medical supplies. Insurance is giving the runaround, saying the warped frame isn’t totaled and that the Bowie box (which was an $18k box 10 years ago) isn’t covered under the vehicle’s insurance, etc. She is trying to find solutions, but she needs to be spending her working hours treating her patients- which is tough when your “mobile hospital” was destroyed.
Dr. Jessica Giddens is one of our MAIN SUPPORTERS of local rescues & efforts to get low-cost vaccine clinics & offers the best options for lower cost & higher volumes for spay/neuter services.
We NEED mobile veterinary services - desperately - in rural Georgia! We are the 4th/5th worst state for euthanasia rates due to a lack of resources for spay/neuter services. She also sees FHA kids’ animals for shows, farmers’ animals that are part of their families AND their income as agricultural businesses.
We are in serious need to help get her back up & providing services for our region’s animals. She needs to get a new/used truck, a new/used Bowie box for her medical kits, supplies, & medications.
She cannot catch up from missing revenue for weeks during the storm’s aftermath - without a way to see her patients & to perform these services. She cannot be at body shops or online searching for equipment - while providing vet services. She also has a family who need her to assist before/after working hours- as we all do.
Let's lean in & help this small business owner who just wants to get back in the field - literally - in the fields where she can help us with controlling pet overpopulation issues, help farmers & families with their large animals, help students with their projects, & assist animal rescuers & fosters with affordable procedures so that they can continue to do the work to save animals & advocate for better welfare for these beautiful creatures.
It is SO difficult to find mobile veterinarians - & especially rare to have one with a heart for rescue & advocacy. Please help us get her back up & running so that we can continue to receive her expertise & generosity which benefit some of the most vulnerable animals.
- ALL proceeds will go directly toward buying her medical supplies, repairing her truck or getting another vehicle that’s reliable & able to perform as mobile vet services, &/or to help repair or replace her medical equipment storage equipment- which is highly specialized for keeping gear, meds, etc properly maintained while she is doing procedures on the road.
