Rosco came into our lives in 2007 when my husband joined the police K9 unit and I was pregnant with our first child. The week we received him, we had just lost our first dog (Knicko) who was 10.5. We adopted Knicko when we were in college at FSU. Rosco also joined, Sasha, our other dog/ daughter. Rosco was such a great addition at a time that was really hard for us. He and Bryan trained and worked hard at the police department for 5 years. He started showing signs of pain, and after an amazing evaluation at Univ. of Florida, they found that he had an unstable cervical herniated disc. It compressed his spine when he was doing bite work. With this finding, Rosco had to retire. We adopted him to join our family which now included 2 girls (now 7 and 3). We then brought on another police dog, Leo, to join Rosco and Sasha. At the age of 12, Sasha passed away, leaving Rosco as our only family pet. He watched over me and the girls when Bryan was away at work with Leo. The girls fell in love with him (more then Sasha!!).
Only 2 months ago, Rosco started having vomiting, diarrhea and a decreased appetitie. Local vets (2) could not diagnose him so we took him back to UF. They are amazing and found that he has a blockage in his intestine and the only hope for treatment is surgery. We feel that he has done so much for us and our community as a police dog. There is no other choice then to have surgery, to give him a chance.
Please consider donating so we can do this for him. We don't have much time since he has a blockage. We will be giving him subcutaneous fluid to keep him hydrated.
Thank you,
Anamaria Bryan
