Mo Weinman’s Journey to Cancer Free
Donation protected
Friends and family,
As many of you know, our beloved Mo was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Below is her story, in her words, to further clarify her details and plans of her journey—that is unfortunately, just beginning.
Our hearts are so heavy for this diagnosis and news, because we all know that Mo is one of the kindest, most giving, wonderful, encouraging, and positive people—and would do just about anything for anyone. Mo is an incredible mother of 4, and a caring wife, friend, daughter, sister, and nurse. She is inspiring, supportive, and hopeful in all facets of her life. Now it’s our turn to be all those things for her. Mo needs our support and love during this time—and as her path unfolds over the next few weeks.
Beginning with surgery next month, Mo will have a much more clear treatment pathway once all the information, pathologies, and biopsies are in front of her providers. Right now, we have the opportunity to lift the burden of finances at the start of this journey—and support Mo and her family in a way that is difficult to ask for. Mo’s focus during this time should be her health and her family, and on her own healing, recovery, and journey—not finances. These donations will be used for medical expenses and other incidentals of life. During the holidays, these times are even more stressful—we can all help to alleviate that stress.
Please share, donate, or simply send a prayer for Mo and her family. Mo needs us, so let’s all be the friend and family she has been for each of us.
There will be a meal train posted for Mo’s surgical and recovery timeframe, to ease the burden of meal planning. Let’s let her family focus on health, love, and strength—and take this task off their hands.
Thank you.
From Mo:
I have some tough personal news to share. On Monday Oct 17, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I have 4 tumors in my left breast; 3 are malignant. This is called “multi focal”. I have 2 different types of cancer (both are invasive ductal carcinomas. One tumor is ER+/PR+ and two are ER+/PR-). Neither type is that super scary fast-moving HER2-, and I appear to be in stage 1 (early) for both types I have. Despite the earliness of it, one of the types I have is a more moderately aggressive than the other, and I may need chemotherapy. It’s been described as a 50/50 chance right now.
One month later:
It’s been a little less than a month since I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Everything seemed to move really fast in the beginning- then came to a screaching, excruciating halt as I waited for appointments and testing results to form a plan. Thank you for everyone who reached out during that time with love. I felt it. ♥️ Surgery date is December 14 at 0830. I will have total mastectomy of the left breast- and eventually, reconstruction. I will not need radiation with the mastectomy. Also, all 48 gene mutations (BRCA) were negative! Tissue from my surgery will be sent for oncotyping, and I should know if I need chemo by mid-January. ♥️
