Help Cover Urgent Medical Costs Without Insurance

I only recently discovered God's truth about what has made my life unbearable for the last 2 years, which has included seizures that erupted while I was driving, resulting in totaling my car and breaking my neck. This was followed by 2 bouts with COVID, followed by stomach cancer, then (currently) settling into Stage 3 Kidney Disease. Through all this, I kept striving as hard as possible and drifted away from God, thinking that if I worked 12 hour says endlessly that I could conjure up $5000 for my uninsured medical bills and car repair from hitting a deer and having a blown engine. I just discovered that my burnout is real. It's literally exhaustion of the body, mind, and spirit. With true burnout and separation from God due to that, decisions and actions are a puzzle. The kidney disease, I discovered, has been with me for 10 years and is progressive. It causes failure of the hormonal system and leads to mental and physical exhaustion. Yet I have done nothing but strive harder, working 12-hour days and constantly trying to earn income.

This situation requires treatment — but without health insurance, the costs have become overwhelming. Thank goodness there are new kidney treatment options becoming available and if I'm fortunate, I'll be able to stop the severe progression of the disease.

I've always tried to take care of things on my own and constantly pursued income streams. But this time, I need a little help. The medical bills are piling up, and I'm struggling to afford the care that's necessary to get back on my feet. Every appointment, test, and prescription adds up quickly, and it's become clear that I can't do it alone.

Thankfully, the City of Atlanta has a life-saving group called Mercy Care that gives physical and behavioral healthcare to the indigent at a very low cost. They are good people and warned me that my 12-hour-a-day striving will only shorten my lifespan and demanded that I stop the striving, pointing out that the striving has also led to high blood pressure, anemia, and an iron deficiency. A trustworthy friend has pointed out that my appearance is very bad (pale, 15 pounds underweight, and mentally dulled). By God's grace, I found a group called The Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, who is many years ahead of my clinic docs in treating the kidney disease. They point out that as Stage 3 Kidney Disease moves to Stage 4, endocrine and neurological problems explode, including permanent dementia. But they also referred me to an IV vitamin protocol that can stop the advancement of the disease if done with a diet enlisted by functional medicine. So far, it is working! When I do the IVs every week and eat carefully, my blood work shows healthy kidney markers!

And for those of you that know me, I'm diligently pursuing paths to do what I did for the Georgia Tech students for 10 years — which was a mini version of what Charlie Kirk was doing by running a mentor program, teaching ethics-based classes, and presenting upstanding speakers/employers that lead to a successful life. However, I'm leaning on following the Mike Rowe Model and pursuing high school students early on to fill the huge skills gap we have with hands-on producers for subcontractors and manufacturers while providing them with needed perspectives on reality.
