My name is Jasmin, and I am the oldest cousin of Matthew, someone I loved more than words can ever describe. With a heavy heart, I am here to share that our family has suffered an unimaginable tragedy. On August 23rd, Matthew was taken from us far too soon as a victim of gun violence.
He was only 26, his whole life ahead of him, but more importantly, he was a father, son, brother, and friend whose presence lit up every room he walked into. He leaves behind his beautiful 2-year-old son Ayden, who will now have to grow up without his dad, along with his loving parents, Anna Gomez and Fred Rangel, and his three siblings—Victoria, Edmund and Ian.
Our family is devastated, trying to process this loss while also facing the overwhelming reality of what comes next. In addition to funeral and memorial expenses, we want to ensure his son has the support and stability he deserves as he grows up without his father.
We are asking for donations to help cover Funeral and memorial costs.
No family should have to go through this kind of pain, but we are holding onto one another as tightly as we can. Any donation, no matter the size, will make a difference and will be a reminder that we are not alone in this fight for healing and justice.
If you are unable to give, please consider sharing this page so that his story can reach others who may be able to help. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your love, your prayers, and your support during the most difficult time of our lives.
