Hi,Thank you for taking the time to read about this special circumstance/emergency.
My sister's house caught fire Monday, April 4th in the middle of the night. The fire was called in by a passing car and she was notified by her caring neighbors who were concerned that she may still be inside with her children and pets. The home and all of its contents are a total loss. What was not destroyed by the fire, was destroyed by smoke damage and water.
She is a single mom of 3, who works full time as a nurse. She has 2 birth children 5 year old Finn and 2 year old Rory and is the legal guardian of the third, Zayden (3). They are active members at Our Lady of Consolation in Rockford, MI and the children attend school at ECC in Sparta. They left their home on Tuesday the 29th of March for a family spring break vacation in Florida. She has only see the damage in images, videos and the news report. Luckily, the person who was house sitting her pets was at work and was saved from the fire as well. One of her dogs was able to escape the flames but the second was scared and hid in the upstairs laundry room. She was rescued from the flames by Algoma fire department and made the news! This wonderful dog suffered burns to her eyes and smoke inhalation and had to spend the next day at the vet for treatment and monitoring. She received oxygen therapy while at the vet hospital and x rays were taken to see the extent of her lung damage. Olive, an 8 year old pit bull, was able to go to grandmas to be closely monitored and to finish up her course of antibiotics (oral and eye drops) and steroids with strict return precautions. She did lose her 5 chicks to the fire and her cat.
When she comes "home" its not going to be home. Nothing is more welcoming then your own bed and a big hug from pets after vacation. At least she can still look forward to that special greeting from her surviving animals and that her family is still together and safe.
Any donation will help this lovely family during the next year as they rebuild their home.
Thank you for considering to donate to my sister and her sweet babies during their time of need.
