Jessica's Stroke Recovery

"Never in my life did we think that we would ever have to create one of these pages. Our daughter-in-law Jesse just had a stroke. She just gave birth 3 months ago! You can imagine how heartbroken we all are. We wouldn't set a goal if we didn't have to. Whatever you can do is appreciated. It's going to be a tough recovery, but we are a tough family. Thank you in advance." -Michael Rheel
Jessica is a beautiful 23 year-old mother, daughter, and wife. Everyone who knows her falls in love with her amazing personality. She's strong and determined, while kind and caring. She spends every minute of her day making sure she's being the best person she can be, for herself and everyone around her. She has this glowing quality that rubs off on others, always happy-go-lucky, smiling, and cracking jokes. She's the light in the room, and the life of the party.
Jessica suffered a stroke on the morning of Sunday, August 13th 2023. At 23 years old, this is the second stroke she has suffered, the first happening when she was just 16 years old. The two strokes occurred on opposite sides, so she is affected globally. She will have a tough, long recovery over the next many months.
Jessica is affected with expressive Aphasia, which means she has a hard time understanding written and spoken language, as well as speaking and communicating. This in addition to the coordination loss between both affected sides of her body means that she will not be able to work and will need help taking care of herself and her beautiful 3 month old daughter, Acacia Rose.
It has been 3 days since her stroke at the time of writing this. For the first few days, she was not able to speak at all, and didn't understand most of what was said to her. There will be a lot of therapy and hard work in the foreseeable future for her to recover her faculties.
Again, we wouldn't have even put a goal if it wasn't required. We just ask that you donate what you can to help this beautiful woman recover. The funds will be used for things like insurance payments, prescriptions, food costs, health aides, therapists, and whatever else that will be needed for her and her 3 month old daughter while she is out of work.
Thank you for taking the time to read this page, your support means a lot to us all.
-With much love, the Rheel family
