Help Laura Battle Stage 4 Cancer
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Devon Sheets. My mom, Laura Sheets, is enduring one of her toughest challenges. My mom is one of the most independent, strongest, and bravest women. She has raised a family, is a loving mawmaw to her grandson Grayson, and a devoted wife of 26 years to my dad Curt. She has endured a very tough year of doctor's appointments, consultations, and tests.
In May, she began showing signs of stomach issues. She later went to the doctor she was seeing at the time because the issues never got better. He sent her for testing, which showed issues with her gallbladder. Her team of doctors scheduled her for gallbladder removal surgery. Following her surgery, she experienced more complications, which then resulted in an ER visit, hospital admission, and the diagnosis of cancer. In December, she had a Dotatate PET scan, which confirmed the original suspicion of Neuroendocrine cancer that had metastasized to the lymph nodes. She was given incredibly hard news that she has stage 4 cancer that will never be operable and is terminal. Her doctors have started her on immunotherapy and are recommending that she start radiation. Unfortunately, she did not qualify for the radiation clinical trial.
Due to multiple factors and her weight loss exceeding 100+ pounds, she is no longer able to work. On top of this, my dad and I are running out of days we are able to take for her doctor's appointments. The radiation she requires is very costly (before insurance it is $50,000, and we don’t know how much, if any, insurance will cover) and her medical bills are piling up.
