My name is Rob Admiraal

I am a tattooer, specialised in the ‘japanese tattoo-style’. I also make paintings. Although these paintings will not run down like tattoos, i like to paint in the same ‘archetypical’ style.

Because of the inherent frequency this style has to offer. A frequency of adaption & change.

Of connection and the ability to kinda escape the taste-matter. A necessary essence of the tattoo. The japanese call this feeling to make something like this; Kimochi; making with the feelings. These ‘feelings’ I tend to experience as ‘impersonal’. So my work is build with rather impersonal abstractions.

I would like to start the funding of the mural I made, beforehand offcourse. But due to the time i needed for preparing sketches & my unfamiliarity with gofundme, i had to start this afterwards. When the expo is already over & my mural gone.

I hope this funding will help me out a bit with the lack of funds for not able to work during the weeks of preparation; as i needed all my time for this expo.

BIGART is a expo held on different unique locations every year; by artists for artists.

I really liked the idea that my work will be ‘lost’ after the expo..! Because isn’t there only this moment? Aren’t past time & future, mental abstractions..?

The expo was an great opportunity to let so many people see my mural; so big they could almost step into it. I got many sweet reactions & I was very happy with my participation. I kept on painting during the expo; live action painting.

When i explained my work being tattoo related, to an elderly woman; she said she didn’t understand tattoos..! I replied;

Arent we all limited with our ‘candle light’ intellect & our senses..? Wouldn’t the tattoo be a perfect way to underline our inability to understand most in live..? Underline that we can accept this inability..? The woman grabbed my arms, clearly very happy with this reply…!
