Hi, my name is Erika and I’m a 44 year old mom, aunt, and, and first time grandmother. In October of 2021 I went in for my normal mammogram and the results came back abnormal. I had to have another mammogram in November 2021 which came back abnormal again and then had a biopsy. On December 3rd I was given the diagnosis of having hormone receptor positive invasive ductal carcinoma ( a very common and treatable type of breast cancer). I was scheduled for a lumpectomy which I had on January 12th. I went back in for my post op and the results of the tumor came back as a grade 3 and very aggressive. I was given the news that I would have to have chemo before radiation. My first chemo treatment is scheduled for February 14th. I have been out of work since the beginning of January and my date to go back is not until at least August. As many of you know not being able to work and having medical expenses along with living expenses bills pile up fast. These are just added stresses to an already difficult journey that I plan on fighting and beating.
