My GSAs Trip to Outshine Conference

The FFSS Gay Straight Alliance is a small but mighty group. We are working toward shifting our school and community climate to one that is fully safe and inclusive for lgbtq students and staff. We hold several events each year including Ally Week in October - with awareness assemblies and week long activities; a valentines day coffee house featuring our student body talent; a day of silence; and for the last two years we hosted a board wide GSA spring dance.  We are inspired to do the work we do, but it is challenging trying to connect with other youth in the lgbtq community. We live in a rural community, two hours north of Toronto, Ontario.

Two years ago the first ever National GSA conference was held in Toronto. One of us had the chance to go and it was a life changing experience for her. This year the conference is being held in Winnipeg, Manitoba and she and we want to go badly. However, we cannot afford to get there. There are four of us who want to attend and one staff advisor. The money we are trying to raise is to cover airfare, hotel and conference registration fees.  Please help us if you can! Thanks!
