Save Our House!

Well, we've held it together as long as we could, and maybe we should have asked for help sooner, but it has been a rough year for us financially, and we can no longer stay afloat on our own. Basically, things were going well, so Meg entered a graduate program to pursue her master's degree in legal studies, and was immediately laid off after committing finances toward it. Between her unemployment and now Michael's, we've been a one-income household since, and it's catching up with us. Meg worked very hard to secure her current position, which is great and going well, but it's not enough with Michael stuck in the dreaded need-a-car-to-get-a-job/need-a-job-to-buy-a-car loop. Every couple of steps in the right direction, life seems to throw something else at us that sets us back three or four. Michael is committed to making a career out of theatre arts, but it's unfortunately, as you can imagine, an insecure and slow road. As much as we still hope and believe things will pick up just around the bend, we've already given up most frivolities, cut as far back on groceries as we can manage, foregone routine medical care and insurance, and are still now at the point of falling too far behind on our mortgage to keep the bank from foreclosing on our house.   We are in the process of attempting to apply for modification on the loan for a second time, but are not super optimistic about that prospect since the first application didn't take somehow. The only other option is paying a reinstatement fee of close to $7000, which is where the goal for this campaign comes from. Either way, the long and short of it at the end of the day is that we need help.  There are countless other causes we both feel are more worthy of your support, but we're up against a wall and unsure how to move forward. It's not that we don't have things going for us, but the reality is that we need a push over this hump. If you know us personally, you know that we would love to earn your contribution in some way - baked goods, acting coaching, unending love and gratitude - however we can pay you back, we're willing to barter anything we've got left.
