M'Leia Needs Help with Medical Expenses

Donation protected
My name is Steve, and I am raising money for my co-worker's daughter M'Leia Allen. The rising senior, honor roll student and three sport athlete was involved in a horrific traffic accident that put her in the ICU Burn Unit for the last 3 months as she fought for her life.

Things can change so quickly. I vividly remember chatting with Tiffany (her mother) on July 7th: "Steve, I can't believe how many activities and going ons there are with being a Senior. You just wouldn't believe it ....." Tiffany was beaming pride. I could see that she wasn't worried about the time and expense, but was fiercely proud that her daughter had navigated childhood and was nearing the milestone of high school graduation and attending college. Little did she know that a life-changing event would occur just two short days later.

Rising Senior - typical teen

On July 9th, 2022, M'Leia was involved in a horrific car accident on I240. M'Leia was out running errands and experiencing that carefree rising senior existence with a friend (the driver). An infant was traveling in the backseat and fussing because she had dropped her pacifier. M'Leia having some experience with toddlers (sister Korie), unfastened her seatbelt to retrieve the pacifier in the back seat. As she returned to her seatbelt, she saw the car behind her weaving at high speed and noticed that the couple was fighting. The last thing M'Leia saw was the passenger lunge for the wheel, causing the other car to slam into M'Leia's vehicle causing it to flip! M'Leia was thrown from the car and skidded down the hot July concrete. M'Leia's friend and the toddler were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and released. The fighting couple reportedly continued their fight on the side of the interstate while others attended to M'Leia.

M'Leia was taken to Regional One trauma center and admitted to the ICU Burn Center with road rash/burns covering 74% of her body. For 2 months, she was intubated. Her injuries included the loss of her only kidney, a broken jaw, nerve damage to her right arm and 8 broken teeth. M'Leia has endured 9 surgeries, 4 skin grafts, 13 transfusions and many hydro-therapies during her treatment. Until this trauma, M'Leia and her family were unaware that she was born with only 1 kidney.

M'Leia is still smiling and still looks forward to participating in her senior year activities

Thankfully, M'Leia has made it out of the most dangerous recovery phase. But it's not going to be easy. She is facing frequent hemodialysis for her kidneys, repairs to her teeth and likely another skin graft or two. She will be placed on the transplant list, another event in her young life. Currently, she is going to rehab to regain the use of her right arm and rebuild her strength.
Queen let big sister borrow the crown

The funds we raise will help this family with their medical bills and family expenses to care for M'Leia. The costs are difficult to list but easy to imagine. Without your help, it will be nearly impossible.

So the point of all this is to help a hard-working family recover from this tragic event. To restore some semblance of normalcy, fix that beautiful smile and support M'Leai's positive outlook on life. There are no deep pockets to go after to relieve the financial trauma. No family with unlimited resources. No actual government safety net to address this situation. The community is the safety net; this family is deserving and good. They truly need our help. Please donate and share this link knowing the family is forever grateful for your generosity and concern.

The Allen family (l to r - M'Leia, Corey, Tiffany and Korie or fondly known as Queen).
