First and foremost, we are SO incredibly thankful for the hundreds of people who have supported us prayerfully and financially. It is because of people like you that we are able to be here sharing the gospel and pouring into the lives of these children at New Hope Orphanage.
“Lord, break our heart for what breaks yours”. This prayer has rang true to our teams lives. Today, we are writing you with a heart that has been wrecked by God’s calling for our team.
This morning as we sat eating breakfast, we began reflecting on the kids we’ve been able to interact with. We’re encouraged by our bonds with them, which feel like they have been growing and flourishing for years, yet we met them less than a week ago. To say our hearts haven’t been changed would be nothing but a lie.
During our interactions, we have noticed a few kids who seem to stay back during the day when the others head to school. We struck up a conversation with our ministry host who informed us that out of 50 children at the orphanage, those three aren’t able to go to school to learn due to a lack of funds.
Sophorn, Thour, and Dina sit at the orphanage everyday at 7am watching all of their friends grab their backpacks and begin walking to school. You can tell that these three know they don’t have the same opportunity as the others. There’s a sense of desperate need for attention to try and fill the void of missing out on such a crucial part of a child’s life.
Despite the hurt, feeling like they aren’t good enough, and the emptiness that they struggle with these three kids are some of the most loving, kind hearted, and serving kids who truly love the Lord with all of their soul.
Our goal is to raise $11,100 to send them to school for the 5 years that they need. In order to allow them to start school this year, we need at least $2,200 by February 21st.
