I want to start out by painting a picture the way I see Ethan. We’ve lived on our block for many years and seen neighbors come and go until Chris and Julie moved in over two years ago. They brought a beautiful little boy into this world full of life and “little boy curiosity.” I find Ethan and his little sister playing in their front and backyard doing what little kids do. I always take the opportunity to say hello and talk to Chris or Julie when they're out front only to be interrupted by the overpowering voice of a child. Something I look forward to is Ethan curiously asking if I have any gloves or boots and what color they are. At Christmas he included asking if we had a train around our Christmas tree. As I pull away to run my errands I check to make sure neither of them are close and look forward to his cheerful wave good by with his parents and sister until I see them again. On February 25th Ethan was admitted to the Pediatric ICU at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs. Beginning with an initial diagnosis of the Flu and an ear infection, the bricks began to pile. Ethan was eventually diagnosed with Septicemia, Meningitis and the one we hate hearing the most, “type Pre-B Leukemia.” As time went on at Memorial, Ethan's kidneys began failing requiring more advanced care and dialysis. Ethan was transported to Denver Children’s Hospital on March 1st where his family awaits daily news on Ethan’s response to his medications and treatments. It’s impossible to imagine living the nightmare Ethan and his family are living through. We all know the bills begin to pile up from the medical stay, travel, lodging and food not to mention life’s routine bills. I know Chris and Julie would never ask for more then prayers from everyone. Unfortunately I know all to well how everything piles up after being diagnosed with cancer in April of last year. A dear friend of mine who earned her wings a long time ago established a “gofundme” page early in my diagnosis helping me through my families hurdles to calm the financial side during the unknown. Today we will begin the same for Ethan’s family. Chris and Julie need to be by Ethan’s side day and night and need our help with the other worries. Speaking from experience, every dollar counts just as every prayer does. Anything from the smallest amount to the most generous helps take the burden off during Ethan’s recovery. Lets continue praying, donate and look forward to seeing Ethan and his family return home. A link to “caringbridge” is provided for up to date information as well as frequent updates of this gofundme page as I gather information by Ethan’s loving parents.
