Gabe’s Journey to a new heart
Gabe is a 16 year old young man who attends St. Peter highschool and is in the graduating class of 2025. Gabe is a great student, friend, brother, and son. Gabe can put a smile on anyone’s face regardless of how their day is going and cares deeply about others. Gabe puts his faith in the Lord and will never pass up an opportunity to lead others to God. Gabe was born with a heart condition called Hypo Plastic Left Heart Syndrome and Complete AV Canal Defect. In non-medical terms this means he has been battling severe heart defects creating a lifelong journey of constant medical care. Thankfully, he was put on the heart transplant list in August 2022. On May 22nd the Franklin’s received a call informing them they had a match for a donor heart for Gabe! This was a moment they had been waiting for and an answer to many prayers. His surgery for his new heart was on the 23rd which was successful, however it has come with many challenges being in and out of the intensive care unit. As of June 26 Gabe has been discharged to stay at the Ronald McDonald House, and will remain in Rochester for most of the summer.
Gabriel’s family and friends are coming together in support with this Go Fund Me to assist with the expenses of a situation like this. Thank you for your consideration in helping this amazing young man and his family by continued prayers for the Franklins as well as for the family who chose to offer the gift of life for Gabe. The journey for each of these families has been an incredibly difficult road. You can also support financially by donating to this go fund me which will be used to help cover the heart transplant procedure expenses, any ongoing medical care and expenses which situations like this creates. There is a saying “small is huge” and if we can help rally up many people to donate small amounts it will be a tremendous help to the Franklins!
God’s blessings to all who hear about Gabe’s journey and thank you to all who have supported and continue to do so in love, friendship, prayer and financially.
