Hi friends and family. We are excited to share with you two new approaches we are going to take to support and encourage Ava in the growth she has been making. We are so grateful for the love we have felt from you and that you care about our girl.
1/ There is a program called A Cognitive Connection, I will include the link at the bottom of this paragraph. Anyone who knows Ava knows she loves music, and responds well to teaching that incorporates music. This program uses classical music via bone-vibration ear phones to train the brain. It is absolutely facinating. Medicaid will cover part of this program but we still need to buy the earphones which cost just under $1000. 2/ The second issue we are facing is that we tested our kids for Lyme disease. As many of you know I was diagnosed a while ago and so I had all the kids tested as well (it is possible for babies to get the disease from their mothers.) Ava is the only one who came back positive. While insurance will cover office visits, it will not cover expensive supplements with treatment often lasting 12 to 18 months. This is still a new world for us, but we feel strongly that we need to treat Ava and increase her body's ability to heal.
