Daizy is your typical smart funny sassy loving silly 8 year old girl enjoying her life. On Monday (8/16/2021) her mom took her to the ER because she was having a hard time remembering simple things like what they just ate 20 minutes prior and things that had happened throughout the day. Daizy was being monitored and her memory loss was getting worse, they found out she’s been having seizures but that’s the only thing they know for sure. Things went from bad to worse on late Wednesday night early Thursday morning when Daizy had Status Epilepticus, which is non stop back to back seizures. They had to put her in a medically induced coma to give her brain and body a rest. Since then we still don’t have any answers. The doctors are reaching out to Mayo Clinic and other sources to try and find what’s going on with our Daizy. We don’t have any answers as to why a very lively 8 year old went from being her beautiful rambunctious self to having memory loss and confusion leading to a coma. During this time her mother had been at her side non stop. There are two other children at home missing their little sister and mom. We’re all waiting waiting for the day we get some answers and can bring Daizy home. There has been no progress as the doctors are stumped to what this could be. They may have to transfer her to Iowa city or out of state to get to the bottom of this. I’m asking that we come together as a community to help this mother and their family during this tragic time. Anything to help ease the burden and stress and not worrying about finances right now would be a great help. One less thing on their plate to worry about.
