Hello, as most of you know our sweet neighbor, Alayna, is 9 years old and was diagnosed last year with severe gastroparesis (the nerves in her stomach are paralyzed). There is currently no cure for this disease but that didn’t stop Alayna from becoming apart of the fight for one when she signed up to be apart of a clinical study to help children in the future hopefully have a cure! Just an insight on what Alayna goes through. Shes suffered from malnutrition due to her body not processing nutrients, she has early satiety, she deals with extreme bloating, nausea, vomiting and some days the pain of starvation is easier than the pain of eating. This disease has left her in and out of the hospital as well as countless amounts of specialists visits.. (27 since January to be exact), On top of all this she had a feeding tube placed and is lucky enough to have her mom take care of those needs at home. They have stayed strong in their faith that things will work out however the financial burden has began to catch up. They never ask for anything yet they would give the shirt off their back to any of us. All I ask is that we gather together and help give them some type of relief during these times. Some may know that Alayna’s mom Brittany has a full time job but unfortunately does not get paid for any and all days that she has to miss to be by Alayna’s side and that Alayna’s Bonus Dad Brandon works out of town weeks at a time trying to make enough to provide for their family of 6 so that Brittany is capable of being with the kids when they need her. This family is one of the most resilient families and despite every single obstacle thrown at them they have held their heads high and have made the best out of the worst situations. Alayna has been dealt such a hard hand in life but she is beyond ready for the fight and has so many people in her corner to cheer her on! We love you Alayna!
