Kick Cancer's Butt!

Hi, my name is Melodie, and I'm raising funds to help my family get through my recent cancer diagnosis and medical care.

UPDATE: The cancer has spread to my lymph nodes so those also have to be removed, I'm going to have a scar that will make it look like my head can pop off. Also, Matt was fired a couple weeks ago. His "new" job was basically a scam to make the company look good for potential clients, and he was fired for "not being at his desk and working dispatch." He was not hired as a dispatcher...

 

After some worrying test results from last June and referrals to specialists, I continued school, graduated, and started my job search while waiting to see an endocrinologist for suspected thyroid issues.

 

The initial visit with the endocrinologist resulted in a diagnosis of Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, with the doctor noticing a couple of nodules on the left side of my thyroid. She ordered an ultrasound, which showed worrying signs, resulting in a biopsy of the nodules being performed at the beginning of February. A week later, I had another in-person visit with the doctor, and I was informed that I had thyroid cancer.

 

I will need to have my thyroid completely removed, so I was referred to an ENT for the surgery. The meeting with the ENT resulted in an in-office ultrasound where he saw worrying signs in my lymph nodes. He ordered a CT scan, which shows that the cancer has already spread to my lymph nodes. I have an upcoming biopsy to discover how far the cancer has spread and how much of my lymph nodes need to be removed.

 

Unfortunately, this has all happened at the worst time for my family. My husband has recently switched jobs, and we no longer have the insurance we did when I first asked my doctor to run tests on me. Because of this, we are starting to fall behind on various payments as we are trying to cover medical stuff. This GoFundMe is going strictly to covering medical expenses so that we can use our other income to cover rent, bills, and food.

The cancer diagnosis has led to me having to halt my job search altogether and until an unknown time in the future as I first have surgery, recovery from that, and possible radiation therapy.
