MK Martial Arts, Be a Part of Something Great!

Hello all, many of you know me, either from a life long relationship, my work in technology, volleyball (playing and coaching), or as a martial artist and teacher.
My name is Micheal, Mr. K, MK, and many others, but in the end I’m a man who found his true calling’s path later in life; having tried more than once to start.
Its not easy, starting a business never is, but I have a passion to help young men and women learn martial arts, confidence, self reliance and find their strength. I do this through teaching them Taekwondo and mentoring them in their path to adulthood.
The truth is? It’s hard to start on your own. In our business, you have a quite a few ways to get started. (brutal truth and honesty follows…)
One: You’ve been under a master or grand master for a long time, and you partner together.
Two: You have a vision, and you work for that vision, gathering up funds by any means necessary.
One didn’t work out for me like I’d hoped it would, and at 47, I couldn’t keep fooling myself into thinking things were going to be just handed to me, despite all my hard work and effort. It takes years, more than eight typically, to open this door all the way, to help this dream to become a reality. We call it sweat equity. It’s worth every moment, however in a business tense, this isn’t always the best way to start a business.
Two, well, it’s the one that Martial Arts and even the Army taught me. “By any means necessary.” I woke up, decided it was time, put my heart and soul into my next steps. I’m doing all I can to move this forward, setting up the business agreements, the legal entities, the relationships with equipment providers, communicating with interested parents and students, designing the marketing plan, looking and negotiating for a permanent location, and much more.
Why?
Because our Youth and families are looking for safe places to learn, not just martial arts, but life lessons. Success, failure, confidence, struggle, growth, conviction, purpose and more. It takes a village, and my goal is to provide that village one more extension.
And just like it takes a village to raise a child, sometimes it takes a community to help another.
This is why I’m asking you to be involved. I cannot do it alone, and although I’m securing some funds for basics, I have to live while I grow, I have to buy equipment, I have to put done a deposit on a location (rental spaces are at prime rates, but I will find one that meets our needs), cover business operations costs, uniforms, kick bags/ paddles/ and pads, advertisement costs and much more to get this business launched. The funds will be used to also ensure that I can survive for three to four months while building and growing the community and student base while on a very strict budget.
Please be part of something great, something I believe in, an opportunity to help our communities, our children, a safe place to go and learn how to face the world, an extension of what every parent is teaching at home, the one more place that is a voice for their strength, their safety, their capabilities.
It was hard to write this, it’s harder to ask for help. But I am doing so.
Thank You for your time,
