100% funded! THANKS SO MUCH! Any further donations will support my recovery and the purchase of specialized contact lenses.
Late last year I was diagnosed with keratoconus in my left eye. What this means is the layers of the cornea in Ol' Lefty are thinning over time, which makes my eye bulge outward, causing vision loss. My vision in that eye has already decayed quite a bit, and my eye doctor says that if untreated I could be looking (pardon the pun) at an expensive and very invasive corneal transplant down the line. Thanks a lot, eye!
Fortunately a procedure called collagen cross linking (CXL) has been proven to help people with my condition. CXL won't cure my keratoconus but will prevent my condition from getting worse. This is a minimally invasive procedure and once I've recovered I can get fitted for a hard contact lens to correct my vision in my left eye. Then my eye can think long and hard about what it did and maybe, one day, apologize.
The CXL will cost $4,000 and is not covered by my insurance. I'm also asking for another 3% to cover transaction fees. I will also subtract any in-person/cash donations from the goal total ($40 so far).
I am a full-time student working 2-3 jobs to make ends meet and I don't have a way of paying for this myself. Will you offer a small portion of your Starbucks/Fortnite/drug money to help me continue to live life as a two-eyed man? I am deeply grateful for whatever support you can provide.
Many thanks and best wishes,
Max J. Webber
