Help us pay off Milo’s vet bills

We are the Ingram Family.  On Memorial Day our family got a Golden Retriever puppy. We named him Milo.  My husband, Jim loves Goldens but, after losing his 14 year old Golden back in 2014 to a brain tumor, was very reluctant to get another dog. Too emotional.  Recently we found out that Jim has to have Aortic heart valve replacement surgery which was very hard news for us.  He is only 53 years old.  We decided to get a Golden puppy to be therapeutic for Jim, to help him through his surgery as an emotional support dog.  We have 4 children ages 18-6 and they were ecstatic to be getting a new puppy as well.

The first three days that we had Milo were awesome!  He has such a sweet, fun personality.  We instantly fell in love and knew that we had made the right decision to get a puppy that we could raise and train to be a part of our family.  Our 6 year old son commented to me, "Mom look at dad, he is smiling!  I have not seen him smile in so long."  So heartbreaking!  Sadly, that smile would not last because on day 4 Milo started getting sick.  We had an appointment with Dr. Gohar,  at Bristol Baker Pet Hospital in Costa Mesa, CA.,  that Friday to get our new puppy examined.  We told her of his symptoms during his check up and she grew concerned.  She decided to test for Parvo and, to our shock, Milo tested positive! There was a very good chance our new puppy would die within the next 3 days. We decided to fight anyway.  Milo was immediately checked into the hospital and started treatment.  It has been a roller coaster ever since.

On day 7, we found out that the man we got Milo from, Gustavo Gonzales (google him) is a notorious sick puppy peddler.  He sells puppies knowing that they have Parvo! There are many victims out there and so many dogs have died because of him! He was arrested this week and faces 36 years in Prison for Animal Cruelty, theft, etc. We are filing charges to help build a case against him. We are left to deal financially and emotionally with this evil man's greedy actions.

Milo has survived, against all odds, for 9 days!  Most only last 3-4 and, if they make it that long,  are usually out of the woods!  We brought him home on day 4 for overnight and his blood sugar dropped. He almost died.  We immediately took him back in!  The vet told us that he had taken a turn and would probably not make it through the day!  We had a choice to make and we decided to fight. Miraculously with love and prayers, he survived the day and then next 3!  With their awesome care at Bristol Baker, he was turning the corner.

By Thursday he was up, drinking from a water bowl, chewing on the kennel and barking for us!  GREAT news right?  So we thought.  Today we got a call that Milo has developed a secondary infection in his skin.  He needs to have it surgically removed, which should be no big deal, BUT Milo cannot survive surgery in his weakened condition.  They are aggressively treating it with antibiotics.  They said to not lose hope and continue treatment because he is coming out of the Parvo!  We have made it this far! But we need to get his blood levels up (red cells) before he can do the surgery!  This means more days in the hospital!  We cannot give up on this amazing little fighter now!  But we are $3,500.00 in and counting!  We have Jim's heart surgery looming and these mounting costs are depleting us.  Please help us save Milo!  We need to get these vet bills covered so that we can get through Jim's heart surgery next month.  We still have at least 4 more days of hospitalization for Milo that will add to the cost.   We believe with all our hearts that Milo is a Miracle Puppy and that he will make it through if we can keep up the treatment that he needs.

Any money raised will go only to pay Milo's vet bills! Anything over will be donated to Bristol Baker Pet Hospital to help with costs for people who cannot pay.  Thank you for reading our story, ANY amount donated will help and be GREATLY appreciated.
