Hi. My name is Jess, and I am fundraising for my cousin Angel.

In May, Angel was driving on the highway when her spare tire came off the vehicle causing Angel to roll her vehicle and to fly out the windshield. Luckily an ambulance was driving a few vehicles behind her. They saw the accident and were able to respond quickly. She was not breathing and was unresponsive when they arrived. They intubated her on the scene and rushed to UMN hospital where Angel was rushed into immediate surgery. She has since had 16 surgeries and there are more in her future. She suffered many life altering injuries, including fractures on every level of her spine with spinal cord damage, which has now left her paralyzed from the waist down.

Angel is the mother of 4 young boys Emilio, Vicente, Jaycob, and Aaron. Not only has Angel lost her ability to walk, she has also lost her home, her transportation, and her ability to work. Angel’s life and her children’s life has forever changed. Christmas just will not be the same this year for any of them.

Angel has been in and out of the hospital since she returned home and all of us are working hard to care for Angel and adapt to all of the changes. Angel requires 24 hour care which forced her and her children to move into her parents house, which is not wheelchair accessible.

We are looking for support to make Angel’s parents home more accessible. Many of us in the family have been in and out of work for months to spend time with her in the hospital, caring for her at home, and managing her many doctors appointments and it has taken a financial toll on the entire family, especially her parents.

Angel is an incredibly prideful woman and mother. She has a really difficult time asking for help which is why I had to ask for help on her behalf. Her life will not be the same as before, but it also shouldn’t be this hard. She truly needs a miracle. I am hopeful this reaches anybody who is willing and able to support my family in making this Christmas special for her children and her new life easier for her and our family.
