Danny discovered that something wasn't quite right towards the end of June and after appointments and testing, he was informed he had bladder and prostate cancer. On July 16th, Danny went in for surgery to remove the cancerous tumors in his bladder. We hoped this surgery would be straightforward, but it turned life-threatening in less than 24 hours. On July 17th, a second surgery was needed to treat abdominal compartment syndrome. The surgery to repair his perforated bladder was quick but grueling, and he ended up on a ventilator, receiving 5 blood transfusions, and fighting for his life. We almost lost him.
But thanks to a phenomenal ICU team and nothing short of a miracle, Danny pulled through. On July 18th, they were able to perform a series of tests to hopefully remove the tube. He began writing messages to his loved ones and was successfully removed from the ventilator later that day. Now he’s sitting up with assistance and fighting through nausea that is slowly improving. His strength is nothing short of remarkable.
Still, the road ahead is incredibly uncertain. We’re awaiting pathology results that will reveal the type of cancer he’s battling, how aggressive it is, and where it has spread. The spectrum ranges from curative surgeries and treatments to the worst possibilities no family ever wants to imagine.
Danny and my mom won’t be able to work for at least the next three months, likely longer, as they navigate this medical journey—and with several children still at home, the financial strain is overwhelming. Between mounting medical bills, lost income, and daily living expenses, making ends meet is becoming impossibly tough.
We’re asking for help—whether through donations, shares, or prayers. Anything you can offer brings light into this dark moment and gives our family room to breathe and hope.
Thank you for your support during this incredibly difficult journey.
