Support for Mother's Stroke Recovery Journey

Hello! On May 13, 2025, my life changed forever. The evening before, my mother called me. I didn’t answer something I still regret. The next afternoon, when I called her back, I knew instantly something was wrong. Her words came slowly, her tone was different, and there was a struggle in her voice I had never heard before. That day, my mother suffered a large stroke on the left side of her brain.

From this unexpected illness to prescriptions needing refills, doctor’s appointments, and daily physical, occupational, and speech therapy, unfortunately, our savings have slowly depleted. Having to manage all of this on my salary was not something I expected this soon in my life.

As an only child, I was suddenly thrust into a role I had never prepared for: advocate, caregiver, and her source of strength. The days that followed were a blur of unfamiliar medical terms, overwhelming decisions, and an emotional weight I could barely carry.

Just weeks later, we lost my grandmother my mother’s mother, and my last living grandparent. I now find myself a full-time caregiver, managing her home in Alabama while also keeping up my own in Georgia. My mother is my everything. She has sacrificed so much for me, and every single day I strive to make her proud. Through it all, I’ve held onto one truth: God will never put more on you than you can bear.

I am so grateful that God protected my mom and she is still with me.
