MJ Rivera Recovery Help

On Monday, March 8, a bullet that was the result of a drive by shooting struck 12-year-old MJ Rivera in the back. The Troy Middle School student, who was helping his mother by sweeping in his home at the time, has been left paralyzed from the waist down from the shooting.

MJ is a kind, smart, and creative 12-year-old who has suffered an unimaginable tragedy. A proud brother and son, MJ is known for his incredible artistic talent, having had his work displayed in the Troy Atrium over the past few years. MJ loves drawing and animation both digitally and free hand, and is currently on the high honor roll as a 7th grader at Troy Middle School. MJ and the Rivera family need the support of friends, colleagues and the community at large to help alleviate the financial impact this accident has created while they focus on MJ’s health and recovery.
In the short term we can help by providing funds to assist in repairing the outside of the home, constructing a wheelchair ramp for the house, creating a handicap accessible bathroom and kitchen, securing wheelchair friendly transportation to medical and therapy appointments, as well as helping with medical expenses. In addition to financial assistance, we welcome any contributions of labor and or materials to repair the house and make it accessible for MJ.
