Mizen to Malin Head - Suicide Awareness
Donation protected
What?
On Sept 19th 2021, I will embark upon a journey from Mizen Head (southern coast of Ireland) to Malin Head (northern most point in Ireland) by bicycle. I am aiming to complete this journey of approx. 750 kms within 6 days. I am taking on this challenge to help raise much needed funding for suicide awareness & prevention. With your generous support, we can achieve that.
Day 1/Sunday Sept 19th — Mizen >> Killarney – 122km
Day 2/Monday Sept 20th — Killarney >> Lahinch – 126km
Day 3/Tuesday, Sept 21st — Lahinch >> Oranmore – 86km
Day 4/Wednesday, Sept 22nd — Oranmore >> Castlebar – 118km
Day 5/Thursday, Sept 23rd— Castlebar >> Donegal Town -148km
Day 6/Friday, Sept 24th — Donegal >> Malin Head – 123km
Why?
Suicide is an incredibly complex issue. However, it is preventable with timely evidenced-based interventions. My Mizen to Malin Challenge will raise funds for Cycle Against Suicide’s 'Buddy’ initiative. Peer support is an emerging practice within the mental health sector. Evidence suggests that peer support can improve individuals' personal well-being and is associated with more positive attitudes towards mental and physical health, increased positive coping strategies and a decrease in negative coping strategies. Studies highlight that participants' levels of anxiety, perceived stress, locus of control and self-esteem all improve. The benefits of certified peer specialists found significant reduction in crisis services and inpatient hospitalisations. Cycle Against Suicide over the coming year aims to develop a grassroots network of 'Buddy' support that is freely accessible, delivered locally, by locals to locals, in communities across Ireland.
Any donations to support this endeavour is greatly appreciated!
Thank you for your support!

Note: all government guidelines pertaining to Covid-19 and Covid-19 protocols will be in place during the period of the cycle.
