If you haven’t heard, I have been accepted to attend the coveted “Mix with the Masters” week long seminar in the South of France! I honestly applied to attend on a whim and am so grateful that they saw potential in me and accepted my application! (They only accept about 15 people!) If you don’t know what it is, it’s a seminar hosted by some of the best mixing engineers in the world. My week of attendance is hosted by Leslie Brathwaite, a Grammy award winning mixing engineer who has worked with artists like Cardi B, Pharrell, Keysha Cole, Future, Chris Brown, 2 Chainz, TLC, Rick Ross, Jay Z, T.I., Akon, Pitbull, Ciara and Lil Wayne… just to name a few! During this week, I will work directly with Mr. Brathwaite as we dive deeper into recording and mixing audio at a master’s level. The week is all inclusive and we stay on site at the studio with all meals provided. "The seminars include a series of discussions and demonstrations about music production, engineering and mixing, while also offering career advice, workshops during which the guest speaker tracks a band, mixes in front of the attendees, mixes with the different participants and works on and reviews attendees' projects."
Ever since high school, my passion for music and how it’s created has kept me on a dedicated path. I taught myself to play piano from YouTube videos when I was 16. When I was 18, I was accepted into the music department at the University of Colorado at Denver. I graduated from the University with a Recording Arts degree and a minor in piano. Once out of school I applied for an internship at one of the best recording studios in Denver, Side3 Studios. They told me that I needed to be at a level 8 or 9 competency in “Pro Tools”, an industry standard Digital Audio Workstation that’s used to record music. I went home, spent the next 30 days constantly watching and taking notes on Pro Tools tutorials until I was able to confidently move throughout the program and accepted as an intern. The next few months I sat in on recording sessions where I would try to absorb any information I could. This eventually led to a job offer and some great experience. Now, I work at Augminished Studio where I am constantly trying to get better at recording and mixing.
I will always pursue education and knowledge to be the best that I can in the music industry. I will always pursue a better sound. That is my passion. My goal is to record, produce and mix music at a mastery level. I believe this seminar is the next big step to get me to the next level in order to reach my goal. This will be a huge career move for me.
Here’s where I need your help! The total cost for the seminar is 4,200 euros. This equates to $4,800 dollars. This does NOT include the flight to Europe and back, the round trip train rides nor the hostels for the day before and after the seminar. To hold my spot, I have already paid a $1,000 nonrefundable deposit. I still owe 3,400 euros just for the seminar. 3,400 euros equates to about $3,900. If you would like to support me on this trip, I will be forever grateful. I am asking for $4,000 from my friends and family. I need to raise the money by March 31st, so we have about 3 weeks!! Please, please, please help me to live my best life and achieve my goals. I love you all very much! Thank you.
