Mitzy Ocampo’s Breast Cancer Treatment

Mitzy is a 29 year old single mom now dealing with an unexpected and scary diagnosis. Of the 25 years of knowing her, she has always been an amazing selfless friend and is always there when you need her. Now she needs our support and all the words of encouragement to get through this difficult time she is facing. I am making this fundraiser to help with the anticipated missed days of work for the treatment period, the co-pays and any extra funds necessary for the diagnostics, chemotherapy and surgeries she will need. She has already paid a lot out of pocket for the office visits, biopsies, and mammogram, which has put her behind financially.

On 4/3/25, Mitzy was diagnosed with grade 3 metastatic breast cancer (Biopsy of the breast: invasive ductal carcinoma. Biopsy of the axillary lymph node: metastatic adenocarcinoma). Prognostic markers were done as well for hormonal components and estrogen was a low positive, progesterone was negative, and HER-2 was positive. This type of tumor is fed by sugars so the plan is to change her lifestyle to slow down the growth for the mean time while we wait for her insurance to become active.

Once her insurance becomes active in May, she will be starting next diagnostic steps which include scans to evaluate if the cancer has spread to other areas of her body. From there, they will determine which chemotherapy protocol she will need to undergo for about 6 months. Once the tumor has shrunk, a plan for surgery will take place. Because of the HER-2 component being positive, she will need to undergo an additional year of chemotherapy after surgical removal.

She has a long road ahead of her and we still have a lot of unknowns at this time. We will provide further updates once we gather more information after additional diagnostics have been performed. Please consider donating and sharing this fundraiser. Thank you!
