After 32 years in California (18 years  in Sonoma County), Barbara and Gloria can no longer afford to live here on disability incomes and are moving to Lansing, Michigan.   We are off to the Mitten (slang for Michigan) in search of affordable living.  We are very sad to be leaving our community of friends and family, our support network, our Forestville home &  the life we have created here.  

While we are grateful for a chance to start over, we were horrified by the costs of moving across the country. The irony is having to leave your home because you cannot afford to live here anymore and finding out you can not afford to move either!

So we are asking for your kind help to get us to Michigan where we can afford to live and a home is waiting for us. 

We estimate the move will cost a minimum of $7500.  The move includes 10 days driving across the country with 3 cats ( or longer due to Gloria's chronic pain exacerabated by sitting).

                                              Expenses include:
Moving pods- $4200.
Moving Labor -$600.
Gas:10 tanks - $500
Lodging-  $1200
Meals-   $1000
Other-??

If we take both cars & need another driver, some of the above fees will double.

We also just lost our sweet dog Georgia Sue suddenly. Without an outward sign, she began having convulsions one Monday morning and died 10 days later of metastasized liver cancer . We and the cats are heartbroken she is not moving with us!   We still owe $1600 on her vet bills,  adding to our financial burden.

We know everyone has their financial challenges & its embarrassing for us to have to ask for help.    We do feel guided to start a new life in Michigan near Barbara's sister & her family.   Any kindness & love you can support us with will touch our hearts. Thank You!
