Hi everyone,
My name is Mitchell Wheller and I am an Australian national badminton player, currently ranked #64 in the world for men’s doubles with my partner Simon Leung. My biggest goal yet is to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, but I need your help!
Over the last 12 months we have travelled to many tournaments and improved our world ranking from #126 to #64 in just one year. Our goal is to achieve a ranking at least in the top 50 in the world to have a chance of qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics. The Olympic qualification period began in May of this year and will end in May 2020. In order to qualify, players will travel around the world to compete in 15-25 tournaments in a year collecting ranking points. As you can imagine it is a huge cost to do so, and badminton players in Australia are almost entirely self-funded. I am reaching out to you for your support. Now more than ever funding has become a major barrier in reaching my goals.
Badminton is seen mostly as an individual sport, but I will not be able to qualify for Tokyo 2020 alone. I already have the support of my family, girlfriend, friends, coach (Ashley), trainer (Kevin), and all of my training partners, but I do need a little help from you to be able to make my goals become reality. Please share my campaign on your social media pages and if you are willing and able, I would greatly appreciate any contribution of any size.
