Mitchell's dad, Glenn Whaley, passed away on December 28th, 2019, after a 40-year-long fight against recurrent brain tumors. His journey was long and very difficult, but he fought like a warrior, to the very very last breath!!
Glenn told Mitchell over and over that he needed to get an education. He told him that if he had the same experience and expertise as someone else, but the other person had the degree, they would get the job instead of Mitchell. Liz and Glenn would try to bribe Mitchell with ice cream, or money, or a new game, etc. to get him to read. But Mitchell didn't want to read. He was stubborn.
Things are different now. Mitchell is older and he has decided that education is important to him as well. And, he also wants to make his parents proud. He is a freshman at Dixie State University where he is studying information analytics. He just finished his first semester, and he killed it! We have no doubt that he will succeed.
