We would like to reach out to our friends, family, acquaintances and anyone taking the time to read Mitchell's story.
Mitchell is an incredibly talented, brilliant and artistic designer and writer. He has become a huge asset to our White House Design Studio team over the years but more importantly, he has become family. So it means a great deal to us to rally behind him and be his voice during this very scary and tragic time.
You see, Mitchell has a spirit to him like no other - vibrant, energetic, kind, giving, passionate and one hell of a hard worker. The list goes on. And if you've ever had the privilege of knowing him, you understand what I am saying. So it was hard to believe that over the past several months, he has been battling the ugly "C" word. The doctors found a spot in his bladder but with minor surgery and a little treatment, we thought he was in the clear. Boy were we wrong. The cancer came back and it came back with a vengeance. In recent weeks, he has been very ill. He was scheduled for surgery in early January when his new health insurance kicks in (since he was dropped from his previous insurance company) but that simply was too long and his body started to shut down. After surviving a fall and spending almost 24 hours alone in desperate need of medical attention, by the grace of God, he was rushed to the hospital where it was determined that his kidney's are failing which is leading to renal failure and the cancer may have spread. At the moment his vision has been compromised and he has suffered a great deal of swelling throughout his body including his brain. With his kidneys functioning at 5%, the doctors have made the decision to place stints to help bypass his kidneys and to make him feel more comfortable.
Mitchell has a long road ahead of him and his medical bills are just a tip of the iceberg. Since his previous insurance company dropped him, the bills will undoubtedly pile up. Not to mention his current living expenses that must continue to be paid. Medical bills should NOT be at the forefront of his mind. He his in desperate need of immediate help. We are asking that if you can give, even a little, to help lessen some of this burden, it would be more than appreciated. I can whole heartedly say he would be the first to do the same. And if a financial donation is not feasible, we ask that you keep him in your thoughts and prayers. We truly believe miracles do happen.
At the moment, we are unsure where this journey will lead him but we are hopeful and praying for the best.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you in advance for all of your help and support for Mitchell.
