In January, my fiancé Mitch and I are taking on the Newcastle 10K to raise money for ADHD UK.

I was diagnosed with ADHD myself, and my diagnosis gave me answers to so many things I had struggled with throughout my life. It also made me reflect on some incredibly difficult experiences.

I don't speak about this often, but in my younger years I struggled deeply with my mental health and attempted to take my own life. 1 in 4 women with ADHD have reported attempting suicide, which is something that hits very close to home for me.

ADHD UK does hugely important work supporting people affected by ADHD through awareness, advocacy, information and support. I particularly want to help raise awareness around women and girls, who can often go undiagnosed or misunderstood for years.

This cause is deeply personal to me and has affected me, people close to me, and situations very close to my heart. I may not talk about it frequently, but those who know me know how strongly I advocate for ADHD awareness and support.

Mitchell is running alongside me in support of me and everyone affected by ADHD. He lives with the reality of ADHD through our relationship and sees the raw, difficult side of me as well as the fun, energetic side.

So this isn't just a 10K for us. It's personal.
