1/27/2024 Update:
Hello, dear friends, family, and supporters…
We apologize for the update delay on Mitchell's recovery journey. We're relieved to share that Mitchell is currently in Pensacola, where he has been progressing through tracheal weaning and receiving dedicated inpatient rehabilitation.
The next critical step for him involves the cranioplasty surgery, pending the arrival of his skull flap. This important procedure will necessitate a brief admission to the ICU. Following approval from his neurologist, Mitchell's journey will continue in Jacksonville, Florida, for a focused period of intensive inpatient rehabilitation.
This next stage presents logistical challenges, notably for Alexis, who will need to manage travel between home and Jacksonville to support Mitchell, all while ensuring Dawson's education remains on track.
Efforts are in full swing to arrange for Mitchell's extended recovery path, which will transition to outpatient rehabilitation once he is back home.
The generosity and support from each one of you have been overwhelming and deeply appreciated. Your kindness has been a pillar of strength for Mitchell and our family. Thank you for your continued support and love.
12/29/23 Update: Alexis has shared that thanks to your generosity and additional resources, medical transportation has been covered. We will continue to raise funds through this platform for medical expenses and lost wages for both Mitch and Alexis during rehabilitation and recovery.
Please join me in helping a dear sweet family as they navigate a path full of unknowns. Mitch Tressler, 29, a Marine Veteran currently in the Air Force Reserves, was critically injured as the result of an accident during a weekend trip to Cincinnati. Mitch, a Dickson County native, is married and has two young sons. He and his wife, Alexis, live and work in Pensacola, Florida. Mitch has been hospitalized in neuro-critical care since the accident on December 17, and Alexis has been by his side around the clock. He has undergone multiple surgeries and procedures to treat his traumatic brain injury and is currently critical but stable. Alexis is trying to navigate decisions about the future while dealing with insurance, unexpected medical expenses, and being away from home where daily bills continue. Family and friends have pitched in to help with short-term lodging and food in Cincinnati and have brought the boys to her. Today, another hurdle was thrown their way as discussions about transporting Mitch to a rehabilitation center near home began. Medical air transport will cost $15,000 and is not covered by insurance. Alexis is not one to ask for help, but I know she would appreciate any contribution to lessen the financial burden while they wait for Mitch’s brain to heal and swelling to recede so the rehabilitation phase of recovery can begin. While they do not know what the future holds, they have felt the love and prayers coming from all corners of the world. Please contribute if you are able, and keep this family lifted in prayer during the days, weeks, and months ahead. All funds raised will be transferred to Alexis. Our goal is to raise $15,000 to cover the air transport, and an additional $5,000 to cover some of the couple’s monthly bills during this time of transition. Thank you in advance for your generosity and unceasing
prayers.
