Mistys palliative care treatment
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Keri fundraising for my 4 year old German Shepard X Staffie to have her palliative care.
As many of you are aware on Thursday 1st Feb, misty went outside and seen a cat bolted after it and in the process she dislocated both hips! After going to the vets back and forth for a week she in total had bloods taken, full internal check, scans and X-rays of her hips and spine. We then found out she had really bad hip displasia. She then sue to having no feeling in her tail and still being incontinent went back and she had to go for a CT scan as they suspected a trapped nerve and on top of all this she had developed a very bad uti. Unfortunately as the days went on misty lost all her appetite and remained being incontinent not knowing when she had been to the toilet, unable to walk properly nor wagging her tail. We then got the worse news possible misty has a cancerous tumour in her muscle between her pelvis and spine causing issues with her hip and all the other issues. Speaking with the vets because how aggressive the cancer is if she was to go through with the operation it will 100% grow back within 2 months and she will still have 2-8 months to live, as a family we decided to not go down that route and let her enjoy her time she has left we had been given 1-8 months. The bills so far have come to over £7000 on testing, medication and after care our insurance have maxed out on what they can pay and donations made already have gone towards these things. With that said misty is on different medications which we have to get every two weeks as she is palliative care the vets don’t want to prescribe longer at a time which all works out to be very expensive not only that just her basics like nappies as the incontinence. On the plus side at the moment misty is still going out for her walks, her appetite is back and she’s still being her playful and reactive self! However when it does come the time she passes for her to be cremated due to her weight is extremely pricey. Donations made now will help with her continuous medication, hygiene care and cremation, the £1200 raised has gone on her bills already with the vets. Any money left when the day comes will go towards her cremation if after that anything is left we will be donating it to the rspca and Wood Green as these charities have helped us aswell. Fingers crossed misty continues to do well and is able to enjoy her summer!!
