Misty's Health Crisis: Your Help Needed

This is Misty’s owner, Jennifer. Since the tragic and sudden loss of Bunny back in May of last year, whom Misty was very bonded to, Misty had visibly lost some weight (and she didn’t have any to spare). It seemed to us, however, that she had regained her weight by last December.

Then, about two weeks ago, her interest in playing and her appetite decreased. By this last Friday, she stopped eating and drinking entirely. We took her in to the emergency vet near our home early Saturday morning, but nothing was showing on her xray or bloodwork. They sent us home with an appetite stimulant and anti nausea medicine.

By that evening, she was obviously in pain and still refusing to eat or drink. We brought her back to the emergency vet and they admitted her overnight to receive IV fluids, pain management, and further blood work.

This morning we transferred her care to the University of Minnesota. They did a non-detailed ultrasound and more bloodwork, but what exactly is happening with her is not obvious. She is again admitted overnight at the University this time, in their ICU. They’re giving her IV fluids and pain management, and also an NG tube to give her some nourishment.

I’ve never before had to raise money like this, but we are unable to financially swing these kinds of vet bills—in the 1000s of dollars. I’ve always been on the side of trying to help others, but this time I need your support. Misty means so much to our family, especially to our daughter who has been Misty’s “mommy” since we brought her home from the animal shelter as a kitten in 2012. After losing Bunny less than a year ago, we couldn’t make any other choice than to do everything possible to save Misty. Whatever amount that you can contribute, our family would appreciate it so very much.
